Lakeview Chicago Real Estate and Entertainment Guide

Lakeview is a North Chicago neighborhood bordering Roscoe Village, Lincoln Square, Uptown and Lincoln Park. Like its neighbor to the south, Lincoln Park, it has a strong recent graduate and young professional population, but with some of the most picturesque and more affordable single family homes and condos in Chicago, it hosts a large number of young families as well.
Lakeview is technically defined by its borders of Diversey on the south end, Irving Park on the north, North Ravenswood on the west and Lake Michigan on the east, and it's the second largest of the Chicago community areas by population. The neighborhood also encompasses the communities of West Lakeview, Boystown and Wrigleyville.
Wrigleyville is home to the historic Wrigley Field and its Chicago Cubs and also houses a nightlife and food scene all its own. Boystown, meanwhile, is the first gay village to be officially recognized as such by a civic body in the US. It hosts one of the country's best pride parades, which both gay and straight citizens from all over Chicago flock to in July. West Lakeview features a nightlife and culinary scene rivaling Lincoln Park's and drawing people from all over the city to shop, eat and socialize.
You can reach Lakeview on the Brown, Purple and Red lines of the El, or on one of the many buses that follow the main thoroughfares of the neighborhood: Lincoln, Clark, Halsted, Belmont and Diversey.
Events & Activities Near Lakeview Real Estate

German Catholic Church and School, St. Alphonsus, Oktoberfest
- Brew & View at The Vic – The Vic Theater hosts the shows of many well known musical acts, but it's a favorite venue for Lakeview residents to see a movie. You can see double features of recent movies and some of your old favorites while having a drink in a slightly more raucous atmosphere than the typical movie theater. ($5 dollar admission, 3145 North Sheffield, 773-472-0366)
- Music Venues – Lakeview loves supporting the local and small bands and artists. You can see up-and-coming, indie and local musicians, as well as some larger acts at Schubas, Elbo Room, or The Metro.
- Belmont-Sheffield Music Fest – For over 25 years, the local pubs and restaurants near the Belmont Redline Stop have joined together in the summer for this classic Chicago street festival that really reflects Lakeview sensibilities. Music, drinks, food and crafts for all!
- Oktoberfest – The beautiful and historic German Catholic Church and School, St. Alphonsus, thows a heck of a party for Oktoberfest in the early fall. With all of the great live music and good times of your typical street festival, you get the added authenticity of German Oktoberfest from the beer and brats.
Restaurants Near Lakeview Real Estate
- Rise – With sister locations in Lincoln Park and River North, this sushi and sake lounge just near the Southport Brown Line stop has a great reputation. Great for a late date! (3401 N. Southport Ave., 773-525-3535)
- Breakfast and Brunch – The weekend brunch culture is strong in Lakeview, and you'll see as many young families spending time together after church as you will young people recovering from the night before. My favorite spots are Ann Sather's multiple Lakeview locations for a decadent cinnamon bun and the Austrian import cafe, Julius Meinl, for the best coffee and tea.
- Mexican – For Mexican, you can try the BYOB neighorhood hole-in-the-wall Papacito's for authentic homemade food, breakfast served all day and great horchata. For a more formal dinner, try Chilam Balam where the delicious Mexican menu also takes local vendors and sustainable and season ingredients into account.
- Cafe Furaibo – Top Chef winner and Chicago local Stephanie Izard named Cafe Furaibo one of her favorite places to eat sushi in the city. The small and unassuming sushi joint is nearly hidden behind a car wash on the corner of Lincoln and George. Has a quiet ambiance and delicious rolls. (2907 N Lincoln Ave., 773-472-7017)

Wilde's Library
- Thai Classic – This casual dining Thai restaurant on Clark street has great curry and extremely quick delivery. Excellent for a take-out night in front of the TV! (3332 N. Clark St., 773-404-2000)
- The Art of Pizza – Every neighborhood has its favorite pizza place, and while Lakeview has many of Chicago's best pizza chains, this place still wins the honor of local favorite. Vies for my favorite Chicago-style pizza in the city.
- Wilde – Named after a most colorful Irishman, this upscale Irish pub invites you to understand their mantra: "Love and gluttony justify everything." Drink at one of their two antique Brunswick bars, eat comfort food in a cozy leather booth or sit by the fireplace in their grand library. (3130 N. Broadway, 773-244-0404)
- Le Creperie – Since 1972, this restaurant near the corner of Clark and Diversey has been serving a little bit of Paris to the people of Lakeview. The cozy family-run bistro-style restaurant is warm and inviting, and there's a savory or sweet crepe on the menu to please anyone's tastes. (2845 N. Clark St., 773-528-9050)

(1456 West George Street, 773-327-1127)
- Guthrie's Tavern – Ever wanted to play board games while you socialize? Guthrie's is the place to do it. With a huge wall o' games and a huge selection of beer, there's nothing not to like. Plus, they let you have take out delivered from any of the surrounding Lakeview restaurants! (1300 W Addison St., 773-477-2900)
